Susanne Dräger, Senior Specialist, Sustainability Reporting, PRI

Susanne Dräger is PRI’s senior specialist for sustainability reporting, leading PRI’s programme on corporate reporting, disclosure frameworks and engagement with standard setters and regulators. Previously, Susanne worked on EU Policy with a focus on corporate and investor disclosure at the PRI. Susanne has recently been appointed a member of the working group on climate reporting with the Accounting Standards Committee of Germany and co-authors a commentary on the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR). 

Before joining the PRI, Susanne worked with a not-for-profit charity that runs a global disclosure system. She holds a Master of Business Law (MBL) from her studies in Germany and South Africa.

Martin Skancke, Board Chair, PRI

Martin Skancke was appointed Chair of the PRI Board in April 2014. Martin was re-elected in 2017 for a second term and in 2020 for the final three-year term ending in December 2023. He is a member of the Financial Stability Board Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and chair of a government commission set up to identify climate related risks for the Norwegian economy. He serves as board member of several institutions in the financial sector. He developed and headed the Asset Management Department of the Norwegian Ministry of Finance, which is responsible for the management of the Government Pension Fund, with assets of around US$1 trillion. He served as Chairman of the World Economic Forum’s Public & Institutional Investors Industry Agenda Council throughout 2010 and 2011 and was the Norwegian representative in the drafting of the Santiago Principles for Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWFs) and in the International Forum of SWFs.

Martin served as Director General to the Norwegian Prime Minister and head of the Domestic Policy Department between 2002 and 2006. In this role, he was chief advisor to the Prime Minister of Norway on economic policy issues. Prior to this he worked for more than a decade on macroeconomic policy issues, including serving as Deputy Director General at the Ministry of Finance and head of the Section for Monetary Policy and Public Finances. Martin has also worked at the Oslo office of McKinsey&Co, advising Norwegian and international companies on business strategy issues.

Lee White, Executive Director, IFRS

Mr Lee White joined the IFRS Foundation as its Executive Director in April 2018. He has over 30 years’ experience from the private sector and public authorities in Australia.

Prior to joining IFRS Foundation, he was the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), where he played a central role in bringing together the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA) and the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants to form CAANZ in 2014. From 2004 to 2009, he worked as Chief Accountant at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), where he provided oversight and supported Australian companies in their transition to IFRS Standards. He was also a member of the Australian Financial Reporting Council and the Australian member of both the International Organization of Securities Commissions and the International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators.

Prior to joining ASIC, he served as Assistant Auditor-General at the Audit Office of New South Wales from 1994 to 2004 and as an Audit Principal with PwC (then Coopers & Lybrand) from 1984 to 1994. Mr White has a Bachelor’s degree from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. He has been a Fellow of ICAA since 1998.

Jonathan Bravo, Head of Finance and Corporate Reporting and Senior Policy Advisor, IOSCO

Jonathan Bravo joined IOSCO in 2004 and is the Senior Policy Advisor for Accounting, Auditing and Disclosure at IOSCO. He also heads both the Finance and Corporate Reporting and the Information Technology Departments.

He is the coordinator for IOSCO’s corporate reporting work focusing on financial and sustainability reporting, auditing and disclosure. As such, he coordinates the work of IOSCO´s Committee on Issuer Accounting, Audit and Disclosure (Committee 1), the IOSCO Sustainable Finance Task Force and the IOSCO Finance and Audit Committee.

Jonathan also heads the Secretariat of the Monitoring Board of the IFRS Foundation and is a member of the Secretariat of the Monitoring Group for international audit-related standards.

Before joining IOSCO, he worked for PWC, and among other audit and consulting roles he coordinated the relocation of IOSCO’s Headquarters to Madrid in 1999-2000 and its establishment as a legal entity in Spain. Jonathan was also involved in the establishment of the Public Interest Oversight Board (PIOB) in Madrid 2005 and he was its first Finance Controller.

Jonathan holds a BSc in Management and Business Administration from the Alfonso X University, Madrid and a Masters degree in International Finance from MEMFI Business School of Spain.

John Coates, Fmr Acting Director, Division of Corporate Finance, US Securities and Exchange Commission

John Coates is the John F. Cogan Professor of Law and Economics at Harvard University, where he also serves as Vice Dean for Finance and Strategic Initiatives. Most recently, Coates served at the US SEC under Chair Gary Gensler as Acting Director, Division of Corporation Finance from February through June 2021 and as General Counsel from June through October 2021. Before joining the faculty at Harvard, he was a partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, specializing in mergers and acquisitions and financial institutions. He has testified before Congress and provided consulting services to the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of Treasury, the New York Stock Exchange, and participants in financial markets, including hedge funds, investment banks, and private equity funds. He served on the SEC’s Investor Advisory Committee, for which he chaired the Investor-as-Owner Subcommittee. He received his law degree from New York University Law School and his Bachelor of Arts with highest distinction from the University of Virginia.

Tom Dodd, Team Leader, Sustainability Reporting, European Commission

Since 2018 Tom Dodd has been team leader for sustainability reporting in the European Commission’s Directorate – General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union (DG FISMA).

He started his career in the European Commission in 1996, managing humanitarian aid to various African countries.  After four years in the European Commission Delegation in Nicaragua, he then worked on EU policy on corporate social responsibility, and subsequently on the bioeconomy and bio‐based industries.

He studied at the University of Edinburgh and at the College of Europe in Bruges.

Satoshi Ikeda, Chief Sustainable Finance Officer (CFSO), Japan Financial Services Agency (JFSA)

In March 2019, the Financial Services Agency of Japan (JFSA) decided to create the position of Chief Sustainable Finance Officer (CSFO), to plan and coordinate on promotion of sustainable finance internally and globally. Upon its creation Satoshi Ikeda was appointed and has been serving as the first CSFO. 

In this capacity, Satoshi covers a wide range of issues concerning sustainable finance which include, among other things, promoting TCFD disclosures in Japan by business corporations and financial institutions. He also served as Co-chair of the Workstream on Climate Disclosures of the FSB SRC and currently serves as Co-chair of the Workstream on ESG Data and Ratings of the IOSCO Sustainability Taskforce as well as Co-chair of the Working Group on Sustainability Disclosure of the IPSF.

Margarita Pirovska, Director Policy, PRI

Margarita Pirovska is leading the policy team at the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), working on policy analysis and engagement to support responsible investment across key capital markets. She has over 20 years of experience in sustainable finance and energy markets, including at Engie, the International Energy Agency and Gaz de France. Margarita has a Ph.D. in Economic Science from the University Paris Dauphine, a Master’s in Industrial Organization and a BA in Applied Economics.

Careen Abb, Impact & SDGs, Programme Lead, UNEP Finance Initiative

Careen leads UNEP FI’s Impact & SDGs work stream, a think-and-do space within UNEP FI focused on closing the $2.5 trillion SDG financing gap. Careen managed the process leading to the Principles for Positive Impact (PI Principles), released in January 2017 and marking the beginning of the Impact & SDGs work stream at UNEP FI. In 2018 she co-authored Rethinking Impact to Finance the SDGs, which spells out UNEP FI’s unique theory of impact, positing that impact can and will become a core business driver, and advocating for holistic impact analysis and management as the gateway to an impact-based economy.

She has since managed the development of a unique holistic impact management methodology, leading to the release of suite of tools; the Portfolio Impact Analysis Tools, a Corporate and a Real Estate Impact Analysis Tool. The Bank Portfolio Tool is built to support banks in achieving compliance with UNEP FI’s 2019 Principles for Responsible Banking, which further promote an impact-focused approach.

Her current focus tops 17 years at UNEP FI, during which she also helped develop and expand the sustainable finance agenda in emerging markets, namely by supporting the development of strong in-country sustainable finance networks and via the creation of a well-established training programme on environmental & social risk management.

Bastian Buck, Chief of Standards, GRI

Bastian Buck has been working in technical roles for GRI for over 15 years. Since 2013 he has been leading the team that develops the GRI Standards: the leading global sustainability reporting standards. Bastian has now presented on sustainability reporting in more than 45 countries. 

He is a member of GRI’s Executive Team and member of the EU Platform for Sustainable Finance. His achievements include the introduction of the G4 Guidelines in 2013 and the GRI Standards in 2016. The most recent standard setting projects he has overseen include Occupational Health and Safety, Water, Human Rights, Tax, Waste and the first GRI Sector Standards on Oil and Gas.

Karine Hirn, Partner, Board Chair, Chief Sustainability Officer, East Capital

Karine Hirn, based in Hong Kong since 2013, is one of the founding partners of East Capital Group and Chief Sustainability Officer. Between 2010 and 2013, she was based in Shanghai as East Capital’s Chief Representative in China. Karine is the chairperson of East Capital entities in Luxembourg as well as board director of Alquity SICAV. She is a French trade counsellor, board member of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and of the European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. She is also an advisor to the Center for Emerging Markets at Northeastern University in Boston.

East Capital is a leading active asset manager specialising in emerging and frontier markets, which was founded in Sweden in 1997 and has offices in Stockholm, HongKong, Luxembourg, Moscow and Tallinn.

Prior to East Capital, Karine was responsible for Eastbridge Bank in Moscow. In the early 1990s, she was a consultant for various financing projects in the Volga region in Russia, and responsible for a credit risk training programme at NBD Bank in Nizhny-Novgorod.

Erik Keller, Client Portfolio Manager, Robeco

Erik Keller is Client Portfolio Manager Global Credit strategies. Prior to joining Robeco in 2016, he was at BlackRock Solutions responsible for fixed income manager selection. Before that, he held manager selection and account management roles at ABN AMRO, MeesPierson and PIMCO. He started his career at ING Investment Management in 1998. Erik has a Master’s in Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam. He also holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies UZH in Sustainable Finance and is a Certified European Financial Analyst, Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).

Will Pomroy, Head of Impact Engagement – Equities and Lead Engager Small & Mid Cap Equities, Federated Hermes

Will joined the international business of Federated Hermes in 2015 and, in addition to overseeing and leading the engagement programme for the SDG Engagement Equity strategy, provides ESG analysis for, and engagement with, stocks in the firm’s small- and mid-cap strategies. He also promotes and supports the planning, execution and reporting of engagement and impact for our sustainable and impact equity strategies.

Will has a decade of experience in the responsible investment space having, among his previous roles, led the stewardship and corporate governance activity of the UK’s National Association of Pension Funds (now known as the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association). Prior to entering the world of responsible investment, Will worked as a senior parliamentary researcher in the UK Parliament. He chairs the Corporate Governance Expert Group of the Quoted Companies Alliance, is a member of the Corporate Governance Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and is a member of PRI SDG Advisory Committee. Will holds an MSc in Public Policy and Management from Birkbeck College at the University of London and a BSc (Hons) in Forensic Science from the University of West of England. He also holds the Investment Management Certificate and the Certificate in ESG Investing, both from the CFA UK.

René van Merrienboer, Acting Director of Sustainable Markets, PRI

René leads the PRI’s Driving Meaningful Data programme and PRI’s work towards a sustainable financial system. He has been at the PRI since 2020 and is an experienced sustainable finance professional with deep knowledge and expertise on policy, finance and law. Prior to joining PRI, René worked for the European Commission on the EU’s sustainable finance agenda and led the work on the EU Taxonomy. Earlier in his career he has held various roles at the Dutch Treasury, Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Financial Markets Authority.
